How to become a psychomotor therapist

In France, becoming a psychomotor therapist means earning the state diploma in psychomotor therapy, a 3-year course offered by 23 institutions listed by Onisep. Entry is selective: on application and sometimes interview through Parcoursup, or after a first university year in health (PASS or LAS). There is no short vocational route, so career changers should plan for three years of study, placements with all age groups and suitable funding. In English-speaking countries, related roles exist under different titles and training routes, so check the rules where you live. Before you commit, the G-Learn trial shows you assessments, sessions and teamwork in a few hours. It is a first step to check the job suits you: the G-Learn certificate is not a qualification.

Pay

In a French public hospital, a newly qualified psychomotor therapist earns €1,944.50 gross a month, bonuses excluded, rising to €3,578.86 at the top of the senior grade (civil service pay scale published in May 2024). In private practice, income depends on the number of sessions and fees, as sessions are rarely reimbursed.

Frequently asked questions

Can you become a psychomotor therapist at 40?

Yes. Entry to training in France is selective at any age, and experience with children, older people or patients often strengthens an application. You do need to plan for three years of full-time study.

Do you need a qualification to be a psychomotor therapist?

In France, yes. It is a regulated health profession: only the state diploma allows you to practise, and every therapist must register in the national RPPS directory. The G-Learn certificate helps you discover the job; it is not a qualification.

How much does a newly qualified psychomotor therapist earn?

In a French public hospital, the civil service pay scale published in 2024 starts at €1,944.50 gross a month, bonuses excluded. In private practice, income depends on the number of sessions and the fees the therapist sets.

What is included in the psychomotor therapist course?

A 13-page PDF guide that covers the whole job, and a 3-level path of 13 five-minute lessons (beginner, intermediate, expert), each with a quick quiz, plus a certificate of completion per level.

Is the course available in English and French?

Yes. You choose English or French at checkout; the Complete Pack includes both languages.

How do I receive the course?

Immediately after payment you receive a download link by email, with your invoice. The files are A4 PDFs you can read on any device or print.

Is the certificate an official qualification?

No. G-Learn certificates confirm you completed the course. They are not a state diploma or a licence to practise.

Can I get a refund?

Yes: if the course is not what you expected, ask within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Prices start at €6.90.
