Human-essential

Why a paediatric dietitian stays essential in the age of AI

  1. Reassuring a worried parent and getting a shy child to talk takes real presence.
  2. Noticing a teenager who skips meals or eats in secret comes from listening, not from an app.
  3. Advice carries a responsibility, shared with the doctor, that no software can bear.

Is it for you? Five signs

  • You enjoy cooking and getting people to taste.
  • You feel at ease with children.
  • You can listen without judging.
  • You like working as part of a team.
  • You want a hands-on health career.

Not sure yet? That's what the €6.90 guide is for. Refund within 14 days if it isn't you.

How to become a paediatric dietitian

In France, dietitian is a protected title: you need a recognised diploma to use it. There are two routes after school: the BTS diététique, renewed as the BTS diététique et nutrition (created by an order of 27 November 2024, first exams in 2027), and the BUT Génie biologique with its diététique et nutrition track. Career changers can often take these courses through continuing education or prior-learning recognition (VAE), depending on the school; allow at least two years of study. A focus on children then comes from placements, experience in paediatrics, mother-and-child centres or school catering, and short courses. In English-speaking countries, dietetics is also a regulated profession that requires an accredited degree. The G-Learn test-drive is a first step to try the job: its certificate is not a diploma and does not allow you to practise.

Pay

In a French public hospital, a dietitian starts at about €1,944 gross a month before bonuses and can reach about €3,579 gross at the end of their career (public hospital pay scale, 2024 index point). In private practice, income varies widely with region, client base and number of consultations, which are usually not reimbursed. In 2024, 45% of French dietitians worked in private or mixed practice, up from 33% in 2015 (DREES, Adeli register): setting up on your own is common, often alongside a salaried post.

Frequently asked questions

Can I become a dietitian at 40?

Yes. In France, the BTS and BUT are open to career changers through continuing education, and sometimes VAE. Plan for at least two years of study and placements.

Do you need a diploma to be a dietitian?

Yes. The title is protected by the French Public Health Code. Without a recognised diploma, you cannot use it or practise as a dietitian.

What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutrition doctor?

A nutrition doctor is a medical doctor who diagnoses and prescribes. A dietitian advises and educates, often on medical prescription. They work together.

What is included in the paediatric dietitian & nutritionist course?

A 13-page PDF guide that covers the whole job, and a 3-level path of 13 five-minute lessons (beginner, intermediate, expert), each with a quick quiz, plus a certificate of completion per level.

Is the course available in English and French?

Yes. You choose English or French at checkout; the Complete Pack includes both languages.

How do I receive the course?

Immediately after payment you receive a download link by email, with your invoice. The files are A4 PDFs you can read on any device or print.

Is the certificate an official qualification?

No. G-Learn certificates confirm you completed the course. They are not a state diploma or a licence to practise.

Can I get a refund?

Yes: if the course is not what you expected, ask within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Prices start at €6.90.
