How to become an adult store sales adviser
No diploma is required to work in an adult store, but the job is strictly for over-18s. Shops often hire people from retail, cosmetics, pharmacy retail or lingerie. In France, career changers can build retail basics with a CAP Équipier polyvalent du commerce, a vocational baccalaureate in sales or a BTS MCO, through adult education or work-study; product knowledge (materials, hygiene, compatibility) is then learned in-house. In English-speaking countries, retail roles are usually learned on the job, sometimes with a retail apprenticeship. Before you commit, the G-Learn trial lets you check in a week whether the subject, customer contact and legal rules suit you. The G-Learn certificate records your trial: it is not a diploma.
Pay
Pay varies widely by region and employment status. In France, a beginner's basic salary is often close to the minimum wage, sometimes with sales bonuses.
The hard parts
- Talking about intimate subjects with strangers all day takes real composure.
- Inappropriate remarks happen: you must be able to set limits and end a conversation.
- Retail hours: Saturdays, the days before holidays and the Valentine's Day rush.

Frequently asked questions
Can I become an adult store adviser at 40?
Yes. Shops value maturity, calm and experience in sales or advice. An older adviser often reassures embarrassed customers.
Do you need a qualification to work in an adult store?
No qualification is required, but you must be over 18. A retail qualification helps you land a first job.
Can an adult store open near a school?
Not in France: a shop selling items of a pornographic nature may not open within 200 metres of a school. A Paris love shop was convicted on this basis in 2012.
What is included in the adult store sales adviser course?
A 13-page PDF guide that covers the whole job, and a 3-level path of 13 five-minute lessons (beginner, intermediate, expert), each with a quick quiz, plus a certificate of completion per level.
Is the course available in English and French?
Yes. You choose English or French at checkout; the Complete Pack includes both languages.
How do I receive the course?
Tick the 18+ box, choose the English or French edition and pay by PayPal or card, without creating an account. Your download link appears on screen right after payment and is also emailed to your PayPal address.
Is the certificate an official qualification?
No. G-Learn certificates confirm you completed the course. They are not a state diploma or a licence to practise.
Can I get a refund?
Yes: if the course is not what you expected, ask within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Prices start at €9.90.
